ABOUT

About the Women Innovation Award

The Innovation Award for Women Farmers was first introduced in 2010 to shed a light on the hundreds of innovative projects conducted every year all over Europe by Women farmers. 2023 will mark the 7th edition of this Pan European competition developed by Copa-Cogeca, the voice of farmers and Agri-cooperatives at EU level. In 2018, we shortlisted over 30 projects.

Quotes

"Women are drivers of innovation. In particular, young women farmers who engage in farming businesses across the EU have demonstrated a new approach to EU agriculture and farming. Copa and Cogeca praise this important role of women farmers and rural business women."

Lotta Folkesson, Chairwoman of Copas’ Women Committee

"Starting a trout farm from scratch wasn’t easy, working with people can be even harder, especially with men. It took several years
before our work was finally noticed and recognized. The Women Innovation Awards was an important recognition. Now,
farmers from other farms come to us for advise. We’ve become an inspiration for other women, which is priceless!"

Magdalena Wegiel, 2018 Winner

"Be yourself. Let the rest of the world do what it does. Don’t be constantly comparing your business to
that of others in your industry. Do what you do and do it well. And don’t rely on advisors to run
your business for you. Coming to Brussels and receiving this award was a bit like a dream."

Margaret Farrelly, 2016 Winner
